COINN Newsletter | October 2024 | The Journal of Neonatal Nursing

COINN is in full swing planning webinars and conferences for 2025. COINN's Community of Neonatal Nursing Practice (CoNP) (https://www.conpcommunityofpractice.org) has over 100 participating countries. The CoNP has been very successful. Nurses and other healthcare providers are engaged and are based in more than 100 countries, Outgrowths of the CoNP are bimonthly webinars addressing educational gaps in professional development and training. The African Neonatal Nurses Society WhatsApp group has emerged as a valuable communication forum within the CoNP. Two active WhatsApp groups, one in English and the other in French (total 1100 participants) have brought together nurses, doctors, and ministry of health personnel across the continent of Africa. Monthly case studies in which at times 400 nurses from across the world are engaged. The bimonthly webinar series are engaging and offer the latest information on topics such as a head-to-toe neonatal assessment, thermoregulation, kangaroo mother care (KMC), respiratory problems focusing on the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and the safe use of oxygen to prevent complications, and fluid and feeding management. Most of these are offered in French and English. All these webinars are recorded and placed on the CoNP and the World Continuing Education Association (WCEA) websites and are available free of charge.

Plans are underway for another African Neonatal Nursing Regional Conference to be held in August 2025 in Lusaka, Zambia. The next COINN International Conference will be held in Perth, Australia in 2026. Stay tuned for more information (www.coinnurses.org) on both events.
